Rachael's Story

Rachael brings a unique and varied background to her psychotherapy and councelling practice.  She adds her career and personal experiences to her education and training allowing her to connect with a wide range of clients.

She began her career working in Kanata’s high-tech sector as an engineering assistant and database programmer.  This career allowed her to develop and maintain an understanding of the rapidly changing technology field and the pressures that can come along with it.

While her children were young, Rachael ran a home daycare.  During this time, she took courses at Algonquin College in child development and Autism and Behavioural Science.

This led to a career working with children with autism, providing direct therapeutic intervention, parent training, and training other professionals.  Rachael continues to provide support and consultation to professionals in this field.

This career allowed Rachael to put her education into practice to further cultivate her understanding of mental health and human development.

With a love of learning, she returned to school to pursue a degree in counselling psychology, bringing together her experience and passion for helping others to her psychotherapy practice.

Rachael has been a resident of West Carleton for 27-years.  Born in Manitoba, Rachael lived in Portugal, Oman, Belleville, and Ottawa before settling in West Carleton.

She has a life-long interest in volunteering, including seniors centres, soup kitchens, schools, community centres, and youth minor sports associations.

Her current hobbies include knitting, sewing, reading, yoga, and Netflix.
